Ways to Register

Every eligible voter must be registered to vote prior to casting a ballot.  Voters may register via one of the following options:


  • Online at MyVote - this is the easiest and fasted way to register


  • By Mail - Complete an  EL-131 Form and mail the application to the Town Clerk  


  • In Person (Via Appointment) Register with the Clerk no later than the Friday before the election.


  • At the Polling Place on Election Day - ​If you wish to register to vote at your polling place, you must bring proof of residence.  

     

Voter Requirements

  • You are a  U.S. citizen
  • ·You are 18 years old or older on Election Day
  • ·You lived in the Town of Highland for at least 28 days prior to Election Day
  • ·You are restricted from voting (i.e. convicted of a felony, judged incompetent,  already voted)

Eligibility

Any eligible, registered, Wisconsin elector can vote by absentee ballot.  Requests  can be made for a given election, a calendar year or as "indefinitely confined" for those who are unable to make it to the polls on a permanent basis. 

Requesting an Absentee Ballot by Mail

Absentee ballots are available by mail 47 days before the partisan primary, Presidential Preference, and General elections and 21 days before state, local, and other elections.  

  • The fastest and easiest way to request an absentee ballot is at MyVote.  
  • An EL-121 form may also be completed and returned to the Clerk

Vote by Mail

In-Person Absentee Voting (IPAV)

Also referred to as "early voting", voters can vote via absentee during posted hours.  Early Voting Ballots are secured and counted with the other absentee ballots on election day.  Early voting hours will be established and posted for each election.
